Description

The works consisted of the construction of a new two storey residence on a green field site at Kilmore, Co. Cavan. This included all associated ground works and landscaping as well as installation and connection to new waste water treatment system. The house was of traditional block build with concrete slabs at first floor level and lime render to all external walls. There were a number of high specified elements within the construction works: cast iron rainwater goods, mechanical and electrical installation. Bespoke limestone components comprised of plinths, corbills, window surrounds and a feature porch. The roof construction was of prefabricated roof trusses with blue bangor natural slate.

Internal finishes comprised tailored cornices and ceiling centrepieces, fitted furniture and cabinetry. The internal joinery was hand crafted and all rooms finished with personalised light fittings and chandeliers. There were a number of marble fireplaces, a custom-built kitchen, high spec sanitary ware, wall and floor finishes. The works were complete with extensive hard and soft landscaping, customised entrance piers and gates.

While the design and many of the details may be historically inspired, the new building is well up–to–date, with a geothermal system achieving excellent air–tightness and energy efficiency ratings.
